Tophouse Historic Hotel

Tophouse Historic Hotel is a Bed & Breakfast and also has self contained Chalet units. It is a Category A Historic Place listed with The New Zealand Historic Places Trust. Built in 1887 as a hotel in the wild mountains of New Zealand, Tophouse is a solid mud (called "cob") building with six guestrooms and a large open fire burning daily welcoming you when you arrive.

Tophouse is located 8 km from St Arnaud, Nelson Lakes, just over an hour's drive from Nelson, Abel Tasman National Park, Motueka, Marlborough or the West Coast and situated on a 150 acre farm, with amazing alpine views.

Self Contained Accommodation

In addition to the main house bed and breakfast, the property offers Mountainview Chalets, two bedroom self contained accommodation housing 4 to 5 people each. Pets and children welcome.

Restaurant

Tophouse offers a fixed menu dinner by pre-booking only. Mains include such specialties as wild venison and wild pig. Tophouse is a fully licensed facility and boasts having New Zealand's smallest bar!

Devonshire teas a specialty featuring tea, coffee and homemade scones.
